They believed that what was freedom at that time was only freedom for people who were wealthy elites who often worked together with the government. They wanted to bring the term freedom to mean freedom for common people who weren't wealthy and couldn't fight the government in any way. Their platform wanted to help them achieve economic independence and prosperity which would help them free themselves from wealthy land and company owners.

The populists wanted the government to serve the "common man" as opposed to simply the wealthy and elite, so they sought to elect people who would make sure that their interests (freedom) were being taken seriously.

Because the presidency was decided by a vote he simply rigged the vote. that and he had followers i mean one man against a whole country that doesn't like him doesn't seem to hard to pick the wjnner

Answer:

The Articles of Confederation gave the government ultimately no power over the people, whereas the Constitution gave the government the power to tax and the separation of powers, checks, and balances. Including limited government, representative government, consent of the governed, rule of law, majority rule. The Bill of Rights were the first 10 rights and protections granted to every citizen that cannot be taken away/impeded by the government.
