Keep the athlete steady and give him/her space. most importantly wait for assistance from a medic or trainer to arrive. its not safe for teammates to take actions as they are most likely not properly equipped or trained and can cause further damage.

I think I would recommend not letting him play. Possibly call 911, or bring him to a hospital.
