Suppose for families who live in apartments the scatterplot of the family’s income and the amount of rent they pay is approximat

ely linear with a correlation of r = 0.60. Consider the following statements:
I. In general, families with higher incomes pay more rent.
II. On average, families spend 60% of their income on rent.
III. The regression line passes through 60% of the (income, rent) data points.

Answer:

Option I

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that for  families who live in apartments the scatterplot of the family’s income and the amount of rent they pay is approximately linear with a correlation of r = 0.60.

This implies that there is a positive association between income and rent paid.

Also since r is greater than 0.5, we can say that there is a moderately strong correlation.

All these can be interpreted as if income goes high, rent also would be higher.

The rise in rent due to income would be 0.6^2 =36% only

The regression line need not pass through 60% of income rent data points but it passes through average of the data points.

Hence only option I is right.

1. Ann took out a loan at the Bank of Florida with a principle amount of $12,000, at an interest rate of 5.65% for 4 years. What
fredd [130]

Answer:

1. $2,950.62

2. $93.75

Step-by-step explanation:

Ann took out a loan of = $12,000

At an interest rate of = 5.65%

Time = 4 years

Formula of compound interest = A=P(1+\frac{r}{n})^{nt}

= A=12,000(1+\frac{0.0565}{1})^{1\times 4}

= 12,000(1.0565)^{4}

= 12,000 × 1.24588514

Interest = Amount - principal amount

             = $14,950.62 - 12,000

            = $2,950.62

Amount that Dan borrowed =  $1,250

rate of interest = 5%

Time = 18 months or 1.5 years

Formula of simple interest = P(1+rt)

= 1250(1+(0.05 × 1.5))

= 1250(1+0.075)

= 1250 × 1.075

= 1343.75

Interest = Amount - principal

I = 1343.75 - 1250

 = $93.75
