When an amendment is proposed, who determines the method of ratification?
Llana [10]
The states and the congress. If a constitutional amendment is going to be ratified, first it has to get votes of support from 2/3 of both the house of representatives and the senate, after which it goes on voting in individual states, and if 3/4 of states ratify it then it becomes an official amendment of the constitution.

What were the advantages and limitations of the Twenty-fourth Amendment for advancing the civil rights movement?
Elza [17]

The 24th amendment was important to the Civil Rights Movement as it ended mandatory poll taxes that prevented many African Americans.  Poll taxes, combined with grandfather clauses and intimidation, effectively prevented African Americans from having any sort of political power, especially in the South.  When the 24th amendment passed, five southern states, Virginia, Alabama, Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi still had poll taxes.  Most Southern states, at one time or another had poll taxes and in severe cases, had cumulative poll taxes that required the voter to pay taxes not just from that year, but also previous years they had not voted.

What was the importance of "the church" and the christian religion in the lives europeans in the middle ages?
gizmo_the_mogwai [7]
Don't know if you still need this, but here is an answer:

There was little separation of church and state in the middle ages. Besides being royal or having a title, some of the highest ranks in society you could achieve were within The Church.

Additionally, performing certain rites and receiving different ordinances were some of the key ways monarchs could keep up appearances and have a positive reputation with their citizens and peers.
