The characteristic two seasons of savanna and grassland ecosystems are maintained and regulated by fire and consist of organisms that are fire resistant. These fires bring about sequences and enable the habitats to strengthen their tolerance. Therefore, fires play a critical role in both grassland and savanna ecosystems. Hence, the statement is false.

Further Explanation:

The savanna ecosystem is distinguished by the presence of widely scattered trees which prevents the closing of the canopy. It is a mixture of grassland woodland ecosystems. A sufficient amount of light reaches the ground due to the open canopy which supports the growth of grasses in the spaces between the trees. The regular implementation of wildfires either natural or anthropogenic is responsible for the extensive presence of savanna ecosystem. These fires are limited to the non-woody layer of the ground cover and do not cause any long term harm to the mature trees. The fires help prevent the formation of permanent tree canopy by suppressing or killing the tree seedlings. This results in the growth of grass which would otherwise be hindered.

The grassland ecosystem is an area of land-primarily occupied by grasses on large scale instead of the trees or shrubs. Grasslands receive enough rainfall to enhance the growth of grasses but not sufficient enough to support forest formation. Fire acts as a natural component associated with the grassland ecosystem. It helps in maintaining the vigor and health of the ecosystem. It does so by warming up the soil and lessen the leaf litter which gathers every year, in return allowing the sunlight to penetrate deep into the soil. The warming of the soil enhances the soil microbial activity which helps new flowers and grasses to grow by releasing nutrients from the leaf litter or decaying plant material.

As a result, fire is important to maintain the structure, composition, and function of both the ecosystems.

The correct answer for above statement is:

False

Explanation:

This is because savanna ecosystems are organized as grasslands; moreover, fires play a vital role in these ecosystems. These fires carry out sequences and allow for habitats to sustain their endurance. Savanna ecosystem is a tropic grassland with warm temperatures year-round and with its unusual seasonal rainfall in the summer. The savanna is described by grasses and small or scattered trees that do not form a closed canopy, providing sunlight to reach the ground.

Base your answers the questions below on the information provided and your knowledge of biology. Ocean-dwelling (marine) iguanas
mr_godi [17]

Answer:

- The marine population is likely larger because the food supply is greater for the marine population than that of the land iguanas

- Evolution (natural selection), adaptive radiation

Explanation:

Evolutionary adaptation can be defined as the process of adjustment of organisms to particular environmental conditions in order to increase their chances of survival. Moreover, natural selection is the main mechanism by which organisms adapt to their environments. Adaptive radiation can be defined as the evolution of a specific taxonomic group (for example, a species o genus) into specialized organisms which are adapted to survive under particular environmental conditions. Adaptive radiation can lead to speciation by which populations evolve (change) to become distinct species.

5. Which organisms would you find first on newly created rock?*
lisabon 2012 [21]
The first inhabitants are lichens or plants—those that can survive in such an environment. Over hundreds of years these “pioneer species” convert the rock into soil that can support simple plants such as grasses.
