During last week's visit to this same pear tree, pete ate 3 times as many pears as tweet, and tweet ate 5 fewer pears than honk.

if together the boys ate 25 pears, how many pears did honk eat during last week's visit?

If Tweet ate x pears, then Pete ate 3x pears and Honk ate x+5 pears.
That's a total of 5x+5 pears
5x+5 = 25
5x = 20
x = 4
But remember, we need to find the number of pears that Honk ate!
X+5 = 4+5 = 9 pears!

Suppose x is a normally distributed random variable with a mean of 22 and a standard deviation of 5. The probability that x is l
MaRussiya [10]

Answer:

The probability that x is less than 9.7 is 0.0069 = 0.69%

Step-by-step explanation:

Problems of normally distributed samples are solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

In this problem, we have that:

\mu = 22, \sigma = 5

The probability that x is less than 9.7 is _____.

This is the pvalue of Z when X = 9.7. So

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{9.7 - 22}{5}

Z = -2.46

Z = -2.46 has a pvalue of 0.0069

The probability that x is less than 9.7 is 0.0069 = 0.69%

Exactly how many planes contain points J, K, and N? 0 1 2 3
Lapatulllka [165]
Answer: 1

A plane is uniquely defined by 3 distinct points. Think of a stool with 3 legs. Each part of the leg that makes contact with the ground allows the stool to stay stable. It turns out that that extra 4th leg may make the stool wobbly which is why 3 legs are preferred.
