We have to find the cost of materials for the cheapest container. It has a volume of 10 m^3. V = 10 m^3; V = L * W * H; where L is length, W is width and H is height. We know that L = 2 W; 10 = 2 W^2 * H ; H = 10 / 2W^2 ; H = 5 / W^2. Base Area = L * W = 2 W * W = 2 W^2. Side Area = 5 / W^2 * ( 2 W + 4 W ) = 5 / W^2 * 6 W = 30 / W. The Cost: C ( W ) = 5 * 2 W^2 + 3 * 30 / W = 10 W^2 + 90 / W. We have to find the derivative of the cost. C`(W) = 20 W - 90 / W^2 = ( 20 W^3 - 90 ) / W^2. Then: C` ( W ) = 0; 20 W^3 - 90 = 0; 20 W^3 = 90; W^3 = 4.5 ; W = 1.651. Finally the cost for the cheapest container is: C ( 1.651 ) = 10 * ( 1.651 )^2 + 90 / 1.651 = 10 * 2.72568 + 54.5157 = 27.2568 + 54.5157 = 81.7725 ( $81.77 to the nearest cent ). Answer: The cost of materials for the cheapest such container is $81.77<span>.</span>

You are buying a new car. The price (MSRP) is $16,995. You are trading in your old car which is valued by the dealer at
icang [17]

Answer:

$804.65

Step-by-step explanation:

Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP)=$16,995

Trade-In Value=$5,500.

<u>Difference</u>

16,995-5500

=$11,495

Since sales tax is 7%, but is paid only on the difference between the price and trade-in value.

Sales Tax =7% of $11,495

=0.07 X 11,495

Sales Tax=$804.65

Using the quadratic formula to solve 5x = 6x²-3, what are the values of x?
Salsk061 [2.6K]

Answer:

\boxed{\sf{x =  \frac{5 \pm \sqrt{97} }{12} }}

Step-by-step explanation:

\sf{5x = 6 {x}^{2} - 3 }

\sf{0 = 6 {x}^{2} - 3 - 5x }

\sf{0 = 6 {x}^{2} - 5x - 3 }

  • a = 6
  • b = - 5
  • c = - 3

\sf{x =  \frac{ - b \pm \sqrt{ {b}^{2}  - 4ac} }{2a} }

\sf{x =  \frac{ - ( - 5) \pm \sqrt{ { - 5}^{2}  - 4(6)( - 3)} }{2(6)} }

\sf{x =  \frac{5 \pm \sqrt{ 25   + 72} }{12} }

\sf{x =  \frac{5 \pm \sqrt{97} }{12} }

Quadrilateral MNPQ is the same shape but a different size than quadrilateral M'N'P'Q'
I am Lyosha [343]

If the shape is the same, but the size is different, <em>dilation is involved</em>. There may be other transformations that are also involved (such as rotation, translation, or reflection), so MNPQ may or may not be a straight dilation of M'N'P'Q'.

_____

Translation and dilation can sometimes be combined to a dilation about a point that is not the origin. Reflection might be accommodated by using a negative dilation factor. However, rotation cannot be accomplished using dilation alone.
