Describe the translation represented by the rule (x, y) → (x + 3, y – 2)?
Veronika [31]
The translation, <span> (x, y) → (x + 3, y – 2), means that the point on the X-axis would move 3, and because it's positive, it would move to the right 3.
Y</span>– 2 means the point on the Y-axis moves 2, and because it is negative 2 it moves down 2

The sector COB is cut from the circle with center O. The ratio of the area of the sector removed from the whole circle to the ar
mafiozo [28]

Answer:

Ratio = \frac{R^2 - r^2 }{ r^2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

See attachment for circles

Required

Ratio of the outer sector to inner sector

The area of a sector is:

Area = \frac{\theta}{360}\pi r^2

For the inner circle

r \to radius

The sector of the inner circle has the following area

A_1 = \frac{\theta}{360}\pi r^2

For the whole circle

R \to Radius

The sector of the outer sector has the following area

A_2 = \frac{\theta}{360}\pi (R^2 - r^2)

So, the ratio of the outer sector to the inner sector is:

Ratio = A_2 : A_1

Ratio = \frac{\theta}{360}\pi (R^2 - r^2) : \frac{\theta}{360}\pi r^2

Cancel out common factor

Ratio = R^2 - r^2 : r^2

Express as fraction

Ratio = \frac{R^2 - r^2 }{ r^2}

Andrew
PilotLPTM [1.2K]
Let's say Bailey takes "b" days to paint it.

and Andrew takes "a" days to paint the same house.

now, Andrew is 6 times faster than Bailey, therefore, if Andrew takes "a" days to do it, Bailey takes then "6a" days, or b = 6a.

now, the year they worked together, they finished it in 7 days.

so, after 1 day then, they have only done 1/7 of the whole work.

and Andrew for one day, has done 1/a of the house, whilst Bailey has done 1/b of the house or 1/(6a).

\bf \stackrel{\textit{Andrew's rate}}{\cfrac{1}{a}}+\stackrel{\textit{Bailey's rate}}{\cfrac{1}{b}}=\stackrel{\textit{1 day of work}}{\cfrac{1}{7}}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\cfrac{1}{a}+\cfrac{1}{6a}=\cfrac{1}{7}\impliedby &#10;\begin{array}{llll}&#10;\textit{let's multiply all by }\stackrel{LCD}{42a}\textit{ to toss the}\\&#10;denominators&#10;\end{array}

\bf 42a\left( \cfrac{1}{a}+\cfrac{1}{6a} \right)=42a\left( \cfrac{1}{7} \right)\implies 42+7=6a\implies \cfrac{49}{6}=a&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\stackrel{days}{8\frac{1}{6}}=a&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\textit{how many days will it take Bailey then?}\quad b=6a&#10;\\\\\\&#10;b=6\cdot \cfrac{49}{6}\implies b=\stackrel{days}{49}

You bought a bag of tamales and one of your friends ate 1/5 of the entire bag and another friend ate 1/3 of the whole bag. How m
Serggg [28]

Answer:

There is 7/15 left in the bag

Step-by-step explanation:

So, you need to find a common denominator between 3 and 5 which is 15

multiply the numerator and the denominator by 3 in 1/5. Then, multiply the numerator and the denominator by 5 in 1/3.

1/3*5=5/15

1/5*3=3/15

Add them together.

5/15+3/15=8/15

Lastly, subtract 15/15 by 8/15

15/15-8/15=7/15
