The prism below has a volume of 21 cubic units.The base is a right triangle with legs that have lengths of 2 units and 3 units,F

ind the height of the prism
Mathematics

Answer:

The height of the prism is 7 unit

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The volume of right triangle prism = v = 21 cubic unit

The length of one base = b_1 = 2 unit

The length of other base = b_2 = 3 unit

Let The height of the prism = h unit

<u>Now, According to question</u>

Volume of prism = \dfrac{1}{2} ×  b_1 ×  b_2× height

Or, v =  \dfrac{1}{2} ×  b_1 ×  b_2× h

Or, 21 cubic unit =  \dfrac{1}{2} × 2 unit × 3 unit × h unit

Or, 21 =  \dfrac{1}{2} × 6 × h

Or, 21 = 3 × h

∴   h = \dfrac{21}{3}

i.e h = 7 unit

So,The height of the prism = h = 7 unit

Hence, The height of the prism is 7 unit  Answer

An interesting question!

Instead of solving each set of non-linear system of equations 6 times, I will try a simpler way, which is more adapted to multiple choice questions.  However, please be warned that this method will not improve immensely math skills, but will help with reasoning, and possibly a broader understand in system of equations.

For simplicity, I will denote the sets of system of non-linear equations by S={A,B,C,D,E,F} from left to right.

1. given solutions {(-2,3),(7,-6)}
We first check each member of S, i.e. A,B,C,D,E,F for the linear conditions.
A: x+y=-2+3=1  &ne; 3   so no
B: x-y=-2-3=-5  &ne; 1   so no
C: 2x+y=-2(2)+3=-1  &ne; 1   so no
D: x+2y=-2+3(2)=4  &ne; 2   so no
E: -x+y=2+3=5  &ne; 1   so no
F: x+y=-2+3=1  &ne; 3   so YES now check the other solution 7-6=-1   OK

Now check the non-linear condition for F:
S1: (-2,3)
y-15=3-15=-12
-x^2+4x=-(-2)^2+4*(-2)=-12   good
S2:(7,-6)
y-15=-6-15=-21
-x^2+4x=-(7^2)+4(7)=-49+28=-21 also good,
So Solution set (1) matches tile F

(2) Given solutions {(-5,8),(3,0)}
We proceed in a similar way, to find that
-5+8=3 & 3+0=3 (matches A) and nothing else.
Check non-linear conditions (optionally, I transposed the terms to make comparison easier)
A. x^2+x-y=(-5)^2+(-5)-8=25-5-8=12   (looks good)
    x^2+x-y=(3)^2+(3)-0=9+3=12          (looks even better)
So we determined that {(-5,8),(3,0)} is the solution for tile A.

(3) For solution set {(-2,5),(3,-5)}
Check linear conditions:
x+y=3 and -3, so does not satisfy A,& F.
x-y=-7 and 8, so does not satisfy B
2x+y=5 and 1 so satisfies C
x+2y=8 & -7 so does not satisfy D
-x+y=7 & -8 so does not satisfy E
Thus C is our only set.  NOTE: if two distinct points satisfy one linear condition (say C), then both points cannot satisfy another non-equivalent linear condition, i.e. we didn't really have to check points D & E (which are not equivalent linear conditions as C) once we have found C.
Now check non-linear conditions:
x^2-3x-y=(-2)^2-3(-2)-5=5 ok
x^2-3x-y=(3)^2-3(3)-(-5)=5 ok
So solution set (3) matches tile C.

@officiallyqueenz, for your benefit, I will leave one for you as exercise.  Please proceed to find the system for solution set (4).  Post a your work as comments if you get stuck, or your answer for verification if you wish.

The object on the right is made from a square-based pyramid joined to a cuboid.
spayn [35]

Answer:

Density of steel = 80.73 gm/cm^3

Step-by-step explanation:

The figure is made up of cuboid and square pyramid.

Height of cuboid, h = 9 cm

Length of cuboid, l = 6 cm

Width of cuboid, w = 6 cm

Volume of cuboid is given by the formula:

V_{Cuboid} = l \times w \times h

V_{Cuboid} = 6 \times 6 \times 9\\\Rightarrow V_{Cuboid} = 324\ cm^3

Density of Wood , D_{Cuboid}= 0.68g/cm^3

We know that formula of Density is:

Density = \dfrac{Weight}{Volume}

D_{Cuboid} = \dfrac{W_{Cuboid}}{V_{Cuboid}}\\\Rightarrow W_{Cuboid} = V_{Cuboid} \times D_{Cuboid}

Putting the values:

W_{Cuboid} = 324 \times 0.68 = 220.32\ gm

Total weight = W_{Cuboid} + W_{Pyramid}

970 = 220.32 + W_{Pyramid}

W_{Pyramid} = 749.68 gm

Volume of pyramid is given as:

V_{Pyramid}= \dfrac{1}{3} \times \text{Area of Base} \times \text{Vertical Height}

Base is a square with side 6 cm

V_{Pyramid}= \dfrac{1}{3} \times 6 \times 6 \times (17 -9)\\V_{Pyramid}= 96\ cm^3

Density of Steel/Pyramid:

D_{Pyramid} = \dfrac{W_{Pyramid}}{V_{Pyramid}}\\\Rightarrow D_{Pyramid} = \dfrac{749.68}{96}\\\Rightarrow D_{Pyramid} = 80.73\ gm/cm^3

A triangle has sides with lengths of 26 meters, 39 meters, and 43 meters. Is it a right triangle?
Ivanshal [37]

Answer: No

Step-by-step explanation:

This triangle is not a right triangle because:

A right triangle must have one side that is exactly 90°.

A triangle with sides 26, 39, and 43 do not have any sides that total 90.

The answer to your question is no.

Best of Luck!
