Which word in the sentence is the object of the preposition?

English

antoniya [11.8K]3 years ago

B.) Garden

this is because "on" is one of many words that are commonly in prepositions. Then to find the object of the preposition, you have to ask yourself, "on {or insert whatever your word is here} what", because the object of your preposition is the subject of the preposition. :)

I hope that makes sense!

Explain "Being young is Overrated" with an example.
I will give you 20 points
irinina [24]

Explanation:

Being young is overrated. Being old is underrated. Being in the middle is middle-rated. The only reason people don't pass smoothly—with acceptance, dignity, and age-appproriate rewards and responsibilities—from one stage to the next is because modern societies don't value humans. They value images and synthetic versions of how people should behave and act and buy—created by the diseased reality-distortion field of the media. All people are seen as throwaway, and once they reach a certain age, they have little value. Wisdom is for naught. And even youth is nothing unless bartered in some way in a marketplace of masks and images. All people are victims of this, at least until they see it and resist. Resist being made and seen as a cartoon of a human. You are fully human and just right for your age and perfect for who you are at every moment all the time throughout your life.

Which figure of speech is used in these lines from Sonnet 10 of the Holy Sonnets by John Donne?
torisob [31]
The figure of speech used in the lines from sonnet 10 might be personification, in this case, of the word Death. It might be said that personification is the figure of speech in which something nonhuman is given human characteristics. So the "Death" is firstly, personified by introducing it in capital letters, which means it is used as a name, a proper name. then it is given human characteristics, like "proud" "mighty" and "dreadful"

How do we know that
Jimmy is desperate for his
father's approval in death makes a come back?
Lelu [443]

We know that Jimmy is desperate for his father's approval

 • because of the efforts he put into finding out who Mephistopheles was.

The reader can sense that Jimmy was desperate for his father's approval because of the effort he put into uncovering the case of Lucy Welch's death.

The case also worried him as he was seen discussing it with Doctor Larsen. The doctor provided useful tips that helped the case.

After his consultation with Dr. Larsen, he took the photograph's book to all the places Mephistopheles killed women. These places include the bar where Helen Dunn worked and the Huggins apartment.
