Postures and reactions can manifest communication of concealed information.  Like indirect looks when questioned is a form of avoidance, a sudden crossed legged position may indicate authority, nervousness in a reply can be a lie.
People do not reveal themselves completely to others. They leave a personal space to give distance on things that are not conversational to them.
