Why does the octet rule not always refer to a stable arrangement of eight valence electrons
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

Explanation:

The octet rule does not always refer to a stable arrangement of eight valence electrons because there are some element that do not have eight valence electrons yet they are stable. for example;

i) Helium, It has two valence electrons and it is a stable gas.

ii) Boron triflouride (BF3); it has  six valence electrons (deficit valence electron) yet it is also stable.

iii) Phosphorus pentachloride (PCl5); it has more than eight valence electron and it is also stable.

For these few reasons it is not always advisable to say octet arrangement refer to stable eight valence electrons.

What is a sun spot? in the sun on the surface
umka21 [38]
Sunspots Are decreased temperature areas. So it might be bright all around the sun spots, and the dark spots are where the temperature is lower. They usually form in polar pairs, meaning that on the other side in the same spot there would be another sunspot

Hydroxylamine is a weak molecular base with kb = 6.6 x 10-9. what is the ph of a 0.0500 m solution of hydroxylamine?
7nadin3 [17]
Answer is: pH of hydroxylamine solution is 9,23.

Kb(NH₂OH) = 1,8·10⁻⁵<span>.
c</span>₀(NH₂OH)<span> = 0,0500 M = 0,05 mol/L.
c(NH</span>₂⁺) = c(OH⁻) = x.

c(NH₂OH<span>) = 0,05 mol/L - x.
Kb = c(NH</span>₂⁺) · c(OH⁻) / c(NH₂OH).

0,0000000066 = x² /  (0,05 mol/L - x).

solve quadratic equation: x = c(OH⁻) = 0,000018 mol/L.<span>
pOH = -log(</span>0,000018 mol/L) = 4,74.<span>
pH = 14 - 4,74 = 9,23.</span>
