Which observation would most seriously challenge the hypothesis that most noncoding DNA is slightly deleterious?
Svetradugi [14.3K]

Answer:

Species with larger population sizes have more noncoding DNA.

Explanation:

The statement that most non-coding DNA is deleterious contradicts the fact that Species with larger population sizes have more noncoding DNA. Had the non coding been deleterious , its proportion in species with larger population would have been less but the fact that species with larger population sizes have more noncoding DNA contradicts it.

Forensic entomology identifies the fauna on a dead body to make predictions about the death. C) ants, mites, and beetles frequent the body<u> 3-17 days</u> after death.

<h3>What is forensic entomology?</h3>

Forensic entomology is the forensic branch that studies the cadaveric fauna associated with a dead body to make scientific conjectures.

Cadaveric fauna usually includes different forms of invertebrate species and their stages of development. There is a predictable sequence in which different species arrive at the dead body and inhabits it, and this sequence depends on the time the individual has been dead and the decomposition state of the body.

The species inhabiting the body and their developmental stage can be used as significant data to estimate the time of death, the region, and the circumstances under which the individual died.

Stages of decomposition depend on the region, but we can make this generalization,

  • 1-3 days ⇒ adult flies and eggs, and a few larvae

  • 3-5 days ⇒ bacteria and other microorganisms act. The decomposing body produces gasses that inflate the carcass. Larvae penetrate the body, release the gasses, and the carcass collapses.

  • 5-15 days ⇒ Maggots, flies, ants, and beetles have already reached the dead body.

  • 15-25 days ⇒ Most flesh is already consumed, and the body is in the advanced stage of decay. Although the number of invertebrates is low, the diversity of species is great. There are carpet beetles, ants, skipper flies, and mites.

  • 25-50 days ⇒ Almost dry body with no flesh. Some arthropods are still feeding on it.

  • >50 days ⇒ Bones

<u>Note</u>: Remember that these are approximations and might vary according to the region and environmental conditions, such as temperature, precipitation, humidity, etcetera.

According to this information, we can say that ants, mites, and beetles frequent the body in warmer climates between <u>3 and 17 days</u>. Option C.

What organelle in muscle cells was affected most during exercise? Explain how the function of this organelle relates to the brea
Alex787 [66]
<span>The most affected organelles are the mitochondria. Since the movement is energy mitochondria provide the energy needed for the muscle tissue contraction using up ATP in the process. And since oxygen is needed for the production of ATP when consumption of ATP is ramped up it also needs more oxygen to replenish the ATP consumed in exercise. Hence the accelerated breath.</span>
