In the year 2005, the average cost of a car could be modeled by the equation C= -15x2 + 20x - 3 where x is the number of years s

ince 2005. By the year 2010 the average cost had changed, and the equation could be modeled by C= -10x2 + 30x - 2. Find the difference in average cost equation for cars between 2005 and 2010.

Answer:

60 dollars.

Step-by-step explanation:

I got this by plugging in the number 5 for x since it said that x equals the amount of years it has been since 2005. I got 5 since it is talking about the relationship between 2005 and 2010 (2010-2005=5). Therefore you would get the equation -15 x 2 + 20 (5) -3 = -10 x 2 + 30 (5) -3. First you would do the left side of the equation, start with multiplication from left to right and then addition and subtraction from left to right. You would then get 67 = -20 + 30 (5) -3. You would again start with the multiplication and the addition and subtraction from left to right. You would end up with 67 equals 127. You would subtract 167 from 127 to get 60 dollars which is the difference from the years. I hope this helps and is right.

Olve for x. Check each step or answer that is correct. 34(x + 4) = 14(x + 8) (A) Distribute 34 on the left side of the equation.
Fantom [35]

Answer:

x = -1.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Th given equation is :

34(x + 4) = 14(x + 8)

Step (A) Distribute 34 on the left side of the equation such as :

34x + 34(4) = 14(x + 8)

34x + 136 = 14(x + 8)

Step (B) Distribute 14 on the right side of the equation such as :

34x + 136 = 14x + 14(8)

34x + 136 = 14x + 112

Step (C) Subtract 14x from each side of the equation.

34x + 136 - 14x = 14x + 112 -14x

20x + 136 = 112

Step (D) Subtract 136 from each side of the equation.

20x + 136 -136 = 112 -136

20x = -24

Step (E) Divide both side by 20

\dfrac{20x}{20}=\dfrac{-24}{20}\\\\x=-1.2

So, the value of x is (-1.2). Hence, steps (D) and (E) are incorrect.

A group of workers can plant 6 3/4 acres in 1 7/8 days. What is the unit rate in acres per day?
Sedaia [141]

Answer:

The answer is 3.6 acres per day

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the unit rate divide the number of acres by number of days

∴ Unit rate = 6\frac{3}{4} ÷ 1\frac{7}{8}

                  = (6 × 4 + 3)/4 ÷ (1 × 8 + 7)/8 = 27/4 ÷ 15/8

                  = 27/4 × 8/15 = 18/5 = 3.6 acres per day
