Let

x-------> the cost of turkey per pound

y-------> the cost of ham per pound

Step 1

<u>Find the values of x and y</u>

we know that

4x+2y=30 --------> equation 1

x=y-1.50 --------> equation 2

substitute equation 2 in equation 1

4*[y-1.50]+2y=30

6y-6=30

6y=36

y=\$6 per pound

<u>Find the value of x</u>

x=6-1.50=\$4.50 per pound

Step 2

<u>Find the combined cost of 1 pound of turkey and 1 pound of ham</u>

1*x+1*y=\$4.50+\$6=\$10.50

therefore

<u>the answer is</u>

\$10.50

Machine A makes 12.75 ounces of popcorn in 3 minutes. Machine B makes 18 ounces of popcorn in 4 minutes.
NARA [144]

Answer:

Machine A makes popcorn at a rate of 4.25 ozs per minute (12.75oz/3min).

Machine B makes popcorn at a rate of 4.5 ozs per minute (18oz/4min).

Machine A will make 4.25oz/min * 10minutes = 42.5oz of popcorn after 10 minutes

Machine B will make 4.5oz/min * 10 minutes = 45oz of popcorn after 10 minutes

After 10 minutes there will be a total of 42.5oz (Machine A) +45oz (Machine B) = 87.5oz.

So the answer is: Yes there will be (more than) enough popcorn if both machines make popcorn for 10 minutes.

If the question is wondering how many 9oz bags they can fill: 87.5oz/9oz per bag = 9.7222 bags. The machines can fill 9, 9oz, bags with some popcorn leftover.

The trunk of the car is shaped like a rectangular prism whose volume is length * width * height.

The volume of the trunk is LWH = 3 ft * 4 ft * 2 ft = 24 ft^3

The volume of a cube is the cube of the side (edge)
.
Each cubic box has volume V = s^3 = (1 ft)^3 = 1 ft^3

Now we divide the volume of the trunk by the volume of each cube box.

\dfrac{24 ft^3}{1 ft^3} = 24

Answer: She can fit 24 boxes in her trunk.
