The classical dichotomy is the separation of real and nominal variables. The following questions test your understanding of this

distinction.

Which of the following give the nominal value of a variable?
A) Rina's wage is 2 comic books per hour in 2011.
B) The price of a beignet is $2.00 in 2011.

Answer: B) The price of a beignet is $2.00 in 2011.

C) Rina's wage is $14.00 per hour in 2011

Explanation:

A Nominal Value is an expression of a Variable in terms of it's monetary value in a various years.

When something is expressed by it's monetary value in a certain year therefore, this is the nominal value of the variable.

The price of a beignet in 2011 is therefore an example of a Nominal Value as it is the monetary value in 2011.

In the same vein, Rina's wage per hour in 2011 expressed in monetary terms of $14.00 is also a nominal value.

Setler [38]

Answer:

a) 7.2%

b) 7.46%

Explanation:

the loan's principal = $3,200,000 x 80% = $2,560,000

first monthly payment = $17,300 x 360 payments = $6,228,000

total interests charged = $6,228,000 - $2,560,000 = $3,668,000

using a financial calculator:

n = 360

payment = -17,300

present value = 2,560,000

monthly APR = 0.6% x 12 months = 7.2%

effective annual rate = (1 + i/n)ⁿ - 1 = (1 + 0.072/30)³⁰ - 1 = 7.46%

able below shows the marginal revenue and costs for a monopolist. Demand, Costs, and Revenues Price (dollars) Quantity Demanded
aniked [119]

Answer:

The profit maximizing output for a monopolist is the output level where marginal cost is equal to marignal revenue.

Explanation:

Price  Q Demanded Marginal Revenue Marginal Cost

$76     100                 $76                         $25

71        200                  66                           68

66       300                  56                           56

61        400                  46                           82

56       500                  36                           76

51        600                  26                           48

Arranging the information in the chart above, we can see that for a quantity demanded of 300 units, and a price of $66, marginal revenue and marginal cost are exactly the same, $56.

Thus, the profit-maximizing level of output is 300 units.

You are making a $120,000 investment and feel that a 15% rate of return is reasonable, given the nature of the risks involved. Y
Nana76 [90]

Answer:

$5,681.08

Explanation:

The net present value is the present value of after tax cash flows from an investment less the amount invested.

NPV can be found using a financial calculator

Cash flow in year 0 = $-120,000

Cash flow in year 1 = $48,000

Cash flow in year 2 = $54,000

Cash flow in year 3 = $76,000

Cash flow in year 4 = $-12,000

I = 15%

NPV = $5,681.08

To find the NPV using a financial calacutor:

1. Input the cash flow values by pressing the CF button. After inputting the value, press enter and the arrow facing a downward direction.

2. After inputting all the cash flows, press the NPV button, input the value for I, press enter and the arrow facing a downward direction.

3. Press compute
