Answer: 'As another well known patient leaves my Physiology office, I had to write to you, my dear journal. Even though Im supposed to be giving the advise, sometimes a Physiologist needs a Physiologist. This woman, Allie Sullivan, she is a teacher that is having to deal with a not only deaf, but blind and mute. She tells me that she has flashbacks. Flashbacks that remind her of her own self as a little girl. I found this as a easy case of the female worries. All I tell her is to use her well gifted patience and knowledge of schooling as her guide in teaching this young girl so called Hellen Keller.'

Explanation: This is a Journal of Annies Physiologist. It was the only way I could think of answering those questions. Sorry if its a little sloppy.

When the bank on the other side of the draw began to throw a narrow shelf of shadow, we knew we ought to be starting homeward;
hichkok12 [17]

Answer:

The type of figurative language used in the passage is: imagery.

Explanation:

Imagery is a literary device that uses language to appeal to the five senses (sight, taste, touch, smell and hearing). By using imagery, authors involve readers and help them, in their imagination, to see, hear, touch, smell or taste what is being described. In the particular passage we are analyzing here, the author is using imagery when describing the shadow thrown by the bank. By using "a narrow shelf of shadow," the author has us imagining it in a vivid manner, as if we are the character seeing that shadow.

Compare and contrast close and distant narrative styles
KonstantinChe [14]
Narrative distance refers to the difference between the character's point of views and the reader's point of view. All the characters in a story exist with some amount of distance between themselves. Close and distant narrative styles simply refer to the amount of distance between the readers and the characters. Hope this helps.
