Sally's CDs to Ray's CDs = 2:7
2 + 7 = 9
Ray's Cds to all CDs is 7:9

2x + 7x = 9x

2x + 49 = 9x

-7x = -49

x = 7

Ray has 7x = 49
Sally has 2x = 14

14:49 is the same as 2:7

Ray has 49 CDs. Sally had 14 CDs.
Ray gives 21 CDs to Sally.

Ray: 49 - 21 = 28
Sally: 14 + 21 = 35

Sally's CDs to Ray's CDs = 35:28 = 5:4

1. Which are true of x = log10 31,500? Select all that apply.
ziro4ka [17]

Given:

x=\log_{10}31,500

To find:

Select the true statements from the given options about the given value.

Solution:

We have,

x=\log_{10}31,500

It can be written as

x=\log_{10}(2^23^25^37)

x=\log_{10}(2^2)+\log_{10}(3^2)+\log_{10}(5^3)+\log_{10}(7)     [\because \log(ab)=\log a+\log b]

x=2\log_{10}2+2\log_{10}3+3\log_{10}5+\log_{10}(7)

x=2\left(0.30105\right)+2\left(0.47712\right)+3\left(0.69897\right)+0.8451

x=4.49835

Clearly, the value of x lies between 4 and 5. So, x>4 and x.

Therefore, the correct options are C and D.

Simplify the rational expression. state any restrictions on the variable. n^4-11n^2+30/n^4-7n^2+10
Andrej [43]
<span>For this case we have the following expression:
</span> \frac{n ^ 4-11n ^ 2 + 30}{ n ^ 4-7n ^ 2 + 10} &#10;&#10;
<span> We are going to make the following change of variables:
 </span>x = n ^ 2&#10;
 <span>Rewriting the expression we have:
 </span>\frac{(x ^ 2-11x + 30)}{(x ^ 2-7x + 10)} &#10;&#10;
 <span>Factoring the expression we have:
 </span>\frac{(x-5) (x-6)}{(x-5) (x-6)} &#10;
 <span>Canceling similar terms we have:
 </span>\frac{x-6}{x-2} &#10;
 <span>Returning the change we have:
 </span>\frac{n ^ 2-6}{n ^ 2-2} &#10;&#10;
<span> The resctrictions of the function are those that make the denominator equal to zero.
 We have then:
 </span>n ^ 2-2 = 0&#10;&#10;n = +/-  \sqrt{2} &#10;
<span> Answer:
 The simplified expression is:
 </span>\frac{n ^ 2-6}{n ^ 2-2}
 <span>The restrictions are:
 </span>n = \sqrt{2} &#10;
 n = -  \sqrt{2}

At a red-tag sale, all items with red tags have been marked down by 49%. What should be the sale price of a DVD player having a
ss7ja [257]
The answer is 119.8245. 49% of $234.95 is 115.1255 (.49 • 234.95 = 115.1255). Subtract $115.1255 from $234.95 to get the answer to get 119.8245 (234.95 – 115.1255 = 119.8245).
