The water and dissolved fats are retrieved from the colon once the whole digestion process is complete.

The food that is ingested from the mouth starts chemical digestion of food. The food from the mouth reaches the stomach, then to small intestine and then finally to the large intestine.

During the whole pathway some of the nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine and rest of the left over materials like water and dissolved fats are absorbed in the colon part of large intestine.
