Before the French Revolution, the french society had the structure of feudalism that was known as Estates System, a person belonged to an Estate which determined this person’s rights and status in society and usually, people did not change Estates.

The Peasants (3rd Estate) were the majority of the population but they lacked political and economic power and also did not own the majority of the land.

The second Estate the clergy and nobility controlled the majority of the land in France and also had important positions in the government, church, and military. After the French Revolution, there was major land reform.

dalvyx [7]

D. a foreign policy stance that espouses a unilateral approach to protecting the best interests of the United States.

This sort of policy agenda was part of the "neoconservative" view of a number of  President George W. Bush's advisers -- especially some who had also served in the administration of his father, President George H.W. Bush.  In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, there was a desire to push American values and not be shy about doing so with the use of American military might.  Sometimes referred to as the "Bush Doctrine," the core ideas were that the United States could pursue this goals on its own (without need for United Nations partnerships), that preemptive strikes were allowable against countries that harbored terrorists, and that regime change for the sake of promoting democracy was a good strategy.

The southern states reacted negatively to the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860. They were shocked and protested against Abraham Lincoln's election because they were not in favor of his propaganda to free the slave states (which mostly were in the Southern parts).
