Emily needs to hire a pilot. Pilot A is offering his services for an initial $32 in addition to $22.18 per hour.
Verizon [17]

Answer:

After working for 3. 74 hours, BOTH pilots will charge same amount.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume in m hours, BOTH PILOT charge the same amount of money.

About PILOT A:

The fixed rate  = $32

The rate per hour =  $22.18

So, if the pilot A works  for m hours, then :

Charge for m hours = m x (charge per hour)  = m x ($22.18)  = 22.18 m

So, the Total cost for hiring Pilot A  = Fixed charge  +  Cost for m hour

Total cost for hiring Pilot A   = $32 + 22.18 m   .......... (1)

About PILOT B:

The fixed rate  =$46.75

The rate per hour =   $18.24

So, if the pilot B works  for m hours, then :

Charge for m hours = m x (charge per hour)  = m x ($18.24)  = 18.24 m

So, the Total cost for hiring Pilot B  = Fixed charge  +  Cost for m hour

Total cost for hiring Pilot B   = $46.75 + 18.24 m   .......... (2)

Now,as for m hours, they charge the SAME:

⇒ From (1) and (2)

$32 + 22.18 m = $46.75 + 18.24 m

or, 3.94 m = 14.75

or m = 14.75/3.94  =  3.74

or, m = 3.74 hours

Hence,  after working for 3. 74 hours, BOTH pilots will charge same amount.

Find the area of the shape below.
Otrada [13]

Area  = 10.08 yd²

Solution:

The given shape is a trapezoid.

Length of top base (b_1) = 5.4 yd

Length of bottom base (b_2) = 1.8 yd

Height of trapezoid (h) = 2.8 yd

<u>To find the area of the trapezoid:</u>

Area of the trapezoid = \frac{1}{2}\times (b_1+b_2)\times h

                                    $=\frac{1}{2}\times (5.4+1.8)\times 2.8

                                    $=\frac{1}{2}\times 7.2\times 2.8

                                    = 10.08 yd²

Area  = 10.08 yd²
