Hey there! :)

You have to use the least common denominator: 14

<u>1</u> · 2 = <u>2</u>
7 · 2 = 14

<u>3</u>   · 1 = <u>3</u>
14 · 1 = 14

<u>2</u>   + <u>3</u>   =  <u>5</u>
14    14     14

The LCD of 1/17 and 3/14 is 14.

1/7 = 2/14

3/14 = 3/14

2 + 3 = 5

The denominators are the same, so it will remain the same.

= 5/14 <===

5/14 is your answer.

I hope this helps! :)

Find a solution to the linear equation - 2x – 2y = 8 by filling in the boxes with a valid value of x and y.
adoni [48]

Answer:

-2(-4)-2(0)=8

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

2x - 2y = 8

Required

Gaps: -2( )-2( )=8

<em>Fill in in the gaps</em>

The are numerous solutions to this.

One of them is:

Assume y = 0.

So, we have:

-2x - 2*0 = 8

-2x - 0 = 8

-2x = 8

Divide through by -2

\frac{-2x}{-2}= \frac{8}{-2}

x= -4

Fill in the gaps with these values of x and y respectively:

Hence; one solution is: -2(-4)-2(0)=8
