Answer:

Coach Smith is buying equipment for his soccer team. He has 11 players and each player needs three uniforms, two shin guards, one ball, and two pairs of cleats.

Part A: Write an algebraic expression to represent this situation.

Part B: If each uniform costs $48.00, each shin guard costs $5.00, each ball costs $17.00, and each pair of cleats costs $89.00, determine how much Coach Smith will spend, before taxes, on equipment for his soccer team.

PART A:

Let the cost of a uniform be a, that of a shin guard, b, that of a ball, c, and that of a pair of cleats, d, then

The algebraic expression representing the situation is given by

11(3a + 2b + c + 2d)

PART B:

The amount coach smith will spend is given by

11(3(48) + 2(5) + 17 + 2(89)) = 11(144 + 10 + 17 + 178) = 11(349) = $3,839

Richard Connell describes the coastline as "An unbroken front of snarled and ragged jungle..." Why does he use the word "snarled
lina2011 [118]
B, because snarling is not associated with something loving/nice but it also doesn't indicate something challenging. It's simply an image of something angry/evil
