U wanna get the variables on one side and everything else on the other side.

9e + 4 = 14 + 8e ....we will subtract 8e from both sides
-8e               - 8e
-----------------------
e + 4 = 14            ...now we subtract 4 from both sides
    - 4     -4
--------------------
e = 10

and u can check ur answer by subbing it back into the original equation...
9e + 4 = 14 + 8e
9(10) + 4 = 14 + 8(10)
90 + 4 = 14 + 80
94 = 94 (correct)

so ur answer is : e = 10

9e = 10 + 8e (Subtract 4 from both sides)
e = 10 (Subtract 8e from both sides)

zvonat [6]

Answer:  5 cos x

Step-by-step explanation:

y = sin x     is       y = cos x        shifted to the right π/2 units.

y = 5 sin (x + π/2)     is a shift to the left π/2 units (which results in cos x) and    .                                 an amplitude of 5.

--> y = 5 cos x

High divers use the height of the diving platform to calculate the speed at which they enter the
madreJ [45]

a. 3h = -12 + 5s

b. Speed = 51. 6 miles per hour

c. Height = 76 feet

How to determine the value

Given the function;

5s - 3h = 12

Where;

  • s is the speed in miles per hour
  • h is the height in feet

a. To solve for 3h

We have;

- 3h = 12 - 5s

3h = -12 + 5s

b. If the height is 82 feet , then

5s - 3(82) = 12

5s - 246 = 12

collect like terms

5s = 12 + 246

5s = 258

Make 's' the subject

s = 258/ 5

s = 51. 6 miles per hour

c. If the speed is 48 miles per hour, we have;

5(48) - 3h = 12

240 - 3h = 12

collect like terms

-3h = 12 - 240

-3h = -228

Make 'h' the subject

h = -228/ -3

h = 76 feet

Thus, the speed and height are 51. 6 miles per hour and 76 feet respectively.
