Bastille day compares with Independence Day in America because both holidays celebrate huge factors in history. For example, the fourth of July in the U.S. commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 while Bastille Day celebrates a turning point in the French revolution (The Storming of the Bastille).
