Who is the "true gentleman" in the play?
Higgins
Doolittle
Freddy
Pickering
mr_godi [17]
While Colonel Pickering is not what all would consider to being a "true gentleman", he is the closest to it. He has more respect toward Eliza than Higgins, whose only concern is for himself. Doolittle is only a selfish, terrrible father, and Freddy is not in love with Eliza, but merely wants to use her. Thus Colonel Pickering is the closest character to being a "true gentleman".

Why does the speaker in this excerpt from Langston Hughes's "I, Too" wish to eat at the table?
Ede4ka [16]
I believe he may want to eat at the table because back then in the segregated times African Americans were not allowed to eat with the other guests they had to eat in the kitchen. So basically he was saying he was an American as well and his color made no difference to whether or not he could eat with the rest of the guests.

Hope that made some sort of sense and helped!
