A pollster asked 100 people “If money was not a factor, how many children would you like to have?” The results and their frequen

cies are shown in the (estimated) probability distribution function table below.
X - P(X)
0 - .25
1 - .26
2 - .29
3 - .15
4 - .05

Answer:

O.15

Explanation: The missing probability, P(X = 0) = 1 – 0.26 – 0.29 – 0.15 – 0.05 = 0.25.

ux= (0)(0.25) + (1)(0.26) + (2)(0.29) + (3)(0.15) + (4)(0.05) = 1.49 children.

P(X < 1.49) = P(X = 0 or X = 1) = 0.25 + 0.26 = 0.51.

Which of the following choices are binomial random variables?
Vlad [161]

A binomial random variable is one based on a given number of specified

outcomes from a given number of trials.

 • The choice that is a binomial random variable is Choice B; Amelia rolls 5 fair dice. Let D equals the number of dice that show a value greater than 3.

Reasons:

A binomial random variable is the variable that represents the number of

times a specified event occurs in a given number of trials.

From the above definition of the binomial random variable, we have;

The binomial random variable is the option;

Choice B Amelia rolls 5 fair dice. Let D equals the number of dice that show

a value greater than 3, because, of the following;

 • The number of trials are specified as 5
 • The variable which is the event that is being observed, is specified as the number of times when the dice show values greater than 3.

Choice A is a geometric random variable

Choice C is a random variable

Provide your thoughts on the conditions aboard slave ships.
Pani-rosa [81]
From what i remember back in like 7th grade slaves were treated like items on a ship, they had little to no space and were crammed up together, i remember being shown a picture drawing of them even being put in the storage area. There, they would not be able to move much nor leave. all their wastes were not cleaned resulting in sickness being spread. Many were also hungry. At the end of the journey, lots of slaves died due to the reasons stated above.
