Well, William was succeeded by his son William II (William Rufus), who was succeeded by his brother, Henry I, who should have been succeeded by his only surviving legitimate child, Matilda.

However, England wasn't ready for a female monarch, so Matilda's cousin, her father's nephew Stephen, managed to take the throne and fought it out with Matilda during a period known as "the Anarchy". The eventual result was that Matilda's son became Stephen's heir and succeeded him as Henry II.

Henry was succeeded by his son Richard (the Lionhearted), who died with no children, so he was succeeded by his brother, John. John was succeeded by his son, Henry III, who was succeeded by HIS son Edward I.
hope this works

“Speak softly and carry a big stick” was a phrase TR said. What does it mean? what does it mean for foreign policy ? PLZ HELP
horsena [70]
Speak softly: stay calm and speak to others rationally without forcing your opinion on others.

Carry a big stick: know you have huge assets and powers that can be used only if necessary.

Foreign Policy: TR wanted to deal with other countries in a peaceful, non-threatening manner, but would remind other countries of the vast US powers (big stick) if necessary.

Hope this helps! :)

Why do you think that the percentage of federal spending that is mandatory has grown in recent years
rjkz [21]

Answer:

Explanation:

What does mandatory mean in this question? Do you mean entitlements? Like health care, like social security, like education? Or do you mean defense?

All of them have increased because either the Democrats or Republicans want them. No one is willing to give up anything. Added to this is the interest on the debt, which has also gone up.
