A scientific expedition sets out from base camp and travels 50mi north and then 20mi west. There they took some pictures and traveled back to base camp going 50mi due south. What did they photograph?

If they started at the south pole every direction is north.  Traversing the lattitudes (traveling 20 miles west) doesn't get you any farther from the pole.  

So they photographed south pole stuff, mostly snow.
