Assign variables to the groups. "S" stands for senior citizens and "C" stands for children.

3S + 9C = 75

8S + 5C = 67

We must cancel one of these variables out; I did this by multiplying the top equation by 8 and the bottom equation by 3.

24S + 72C = 600
24S + 15C = 201

Subtract these two expressions and you get C = 7. Plug 7 in for C into any of the above expressions and solve for S. You will find that S = 4.

Which of the following values for x and y satisfy the following system of the equations?
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

The answer to your question is letter C

Step-by-step explanation:

Equations

                             x  +  4y  =  10

                           5x + 10y  = 20

Process

1.- Substitute all the options in both equations and evaluate them

a) x = 3, y = 2              This option is incorrect

           (3) +  4(2)  =  10             3 + 8 = 10         11 ≠ 10

         5(3) + 10(2)  = 20           15 + 20 = 20      35 ≠ 20

b) x = 2, y = -3       This option is incorrect

  (2)  +  4(-3)  =  10                  2 -12 = 10            -10 ≠ 10

  (2) + 10(-3)  = 20                   2 - 30 = 20        -28 ≠ 20

c)  x = -2, y = 3    This is the right answer

  (-2)  +  4(3)  =  10                -2 + 12 = 10            10 = 10

 5(-2) + 10(3)  = 20               -10 + 30 = 20          20 = 20

d) x = 3, y = -2               This option is incorrect

  (3)  +  4(-2) =  10                 3 - 6 = 10                 - 3 ≠ 10

 5(3) + 10(-2)  = 20              15 - 20 = 20              -10 ≠ 10
