It is given in the question that

Arshad's father bought x sweets, (44 - x) were eaten by the children and 20 were left.

It is given that the total sweets are x .

So the equation is

44-x+20 = x

Combining like terms, we will get

64 - x  = x

Adding x to both sides

64 = 2x

Dividing both sides by 2

x = 32

THerefore Arshad's father bought 32 sweets .

3. Which is the inverse of the function f(x) = 4x^2?
natali 33 [55]

Answer:

f^{-1}(x)=\frac{\sqrt{x}}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

The inverse of the function is the "opposite" of a function, so to speak. One can find it by treating it like a literal equation with 2 variables, one now has to solve for the other variable presnet. In other words, treat the therm (f(x)) like another variable in the equation. Now one has to solve for (x) in terms of (f(x)).

f(x)=4x^{2}\\

Manipulate the literal equation with inverse operations;

f(x)=4x^{2}\\\sqrt{}\\\\\\\sqrt{f(x)}=4x\\/4\\\\\frac{\sqrt{f(x)}}{4}=x

Now switch the variables;

f^{-1}(x)=\frac{\sqrt{x}}{4}

The f^{-1}(x) signifies that the written function is the inverse of the original function.

Suppose f(x) = x2. What is the graph of g(x) = {f(x)?
sukhopar [10]

Answer:

f(x)=x2,g(x)=f(3x)=(3x)2=9x2

Now to graph y=9x2. This is a parabola (U-shape), vertex at (0, 0), symmetric around y  axis. When x=1/3 or -1/3, then y=1.

Hope this helps! :))
