The Puritans were rigid beleivers of Puritanism in England that decided to move to the new continent in September 1620. That first migration of Puritans arrived to what now is New England. There they founded the Plymouth colony and the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Time passed by, and by the 1670s then stern religious rules of the original Puritans had less influecen over New England.

There was a new generation of people born in North America. The new generation
had lost approximately of their parents’ religious fervor, as people focused on
running farms and businesses. In growing towns like Boston, prosperous
merchants were becoming the new community leaders. The English colonies of New
England were doing well. But the stern religious rules of the original founders
now had less effect over the people who lived there.</span>
Silver was discovered in New Spain and the mining and smelting was done with forced labor. This led to the legends that priests in New Mexico secretly used Native American labor in secret gold mines.
