Answer:

They sold a total of 513 turkey sandwiches

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a question on simultaneous equation

Let the number of steak sandwiches  = S

Let the number of turkey sandwiches = T

                                                  T +  S   = 925                    (Equation 1)

                                             4 T + 6 S   = 4,524                 (Equation 2)

Using substitution method to solve the simultaneous equation

                  From Equation 1      T +  S   = 925

                                                           T  = 925 - S

Substitute 925 - S for T in equation 2

                                 4 (925 - S) + 6 S   = 4,524

                                3,700 - 4 S + 6 S   = 4,524

                                           3,700 + 2 S = 4,524

Subtract 3,700 from both sides

                            3,700 - 3,700 + 2 S   = 4,524 - 3,700

                                                       2 S   = 824

Divide both sides by the coefficient of S (i.e. 2)

                                                 (2 S)/2   = 824/2

                                                          S   = 412

Substitute 412 for S in equation 1

                                                  T +  S   = 925

                                               T +  412   = 925

Subtract 412 from both sides

                                      T +  412 - 412   = 925 - 412

                                                         T    = 513

That is, the cafe sold 513 turkey sandwiches and 412 of steak sandwiches

Checks for (Equation 1):

                                                  T +  S   = 925                    (Equation 1)

                                           513 +  412   = 925                    (Equation 1)

Checks for (Equation 2):

                                             4 T + 6 S   = 4,524                 (Equation 2)

                                  4 (513) + 6 (412)   = 4,524                 (Equation 2)

                                     2,052 + 2,472  = 4524

An equilateral triangle has one length of 3 meters. What are the lengths of the other two sides?
topjm [15]

Answer:

the other sides are 3 meters as well

Step-by-step explanation: Since it is an equilateral triangle, all the sides will be the same. An Isosceles triangle has two of the sides the same and one different. A scalene triangle has all of the sides different. So, the rest of the sides are 3 meters.

A game is being played with two players. There are 21 balloons and the player who pops the last balloon wins. One or two can be
34kurt

Answer:

  be the second player, and always leave a multiple of 3 balloons

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to win, a player must force the other player to leave one or two balloons. To do that, the winning player must leave one more balloon than the maximum number that can be popped. That is, the winner will be the player who leaves 3 balloons,

Working backward, we find that the winner must leave a multiple of 3 after each turn. Since the starting number is a multiple of 3, the first player must lose if the second player plays optimally.

The winning strategy is ...

  • be the second player
  • always leave a multiple of 3 balloons.
