First off, what's the slope of "r" anyway,   \bf y=\stackrel{slope}{-\cfrac{1}{2}}x-4.

low and behold, since "r" is in slope-intercept form, notice, it has a slope of -1/2.

now, any line perpendicular to "r", will have a negative reciprocal slope to it, that is,

\bf \textit{perpendicular, negative-reciprocal slope for slope}\quad -\cfrac{1}{2}\\\\
negative\implies  +\cfrac{1}{{{ 2}}}\qquad reciprocal\implies + \cfrac{{{ 2}}}{1}\implies 2

so we're really looking for a line whose slope is 2, and runs through 4,-3,

\bf \begin{array}{ccccccccc}
&&x_1&&y_1\\
%  (a,b)
&&(~{{ 4}} &,&{{ -3}}~)
\end{array}
\\\\\\
% slope  = m
slope = {{ m}}\implies 2
\\\\\\
% point-slope intercept
\stackrel{\textit{point-slope form}}{y-{{ y_1}}={{ m}}(x-{{ x_1}})}\implies y-(-3)=2(x-4)\implies y+3=2x-8
\\\\\\
y=2x-11

denny can deliver 6 papers every 15 minutes and brendan can deliver 5 papers in that same amount of time. how many papers can th
Evgesh-ka [11]

So for this problem you know that 15 is 1/4 of an hour so to get the amount of papers each individual could deliver by themselves in an hour you would multiply the amount they can deliver in 15 minutes by 4. Denny delivers 6 so multiplying that by 4 is 24. Next Brendan delivers 5 in 15 minutes so multiplying that by 4 you get 20. The final step is to add 20 and 24 to get the total amount of papers between the two of them that gets delivered in an hour. This will result in your answer of 44.

A 15% tip on a dinner bill is $2.55.<br> How much is the bill?
Bogdan [553]
The answer is 15% of $2.55=$0.3825=$0.38 off
Step by step: Take 15% and divide 15% by $2.55 This will give you the amount of money that is going to be added onto the bill. When you divide it and get your answer just add the answer to your original bill.

How much it will take for a bag to travel 5 meters across the floor of it is traveling at 1 m/s
tester [92]
Time = \frac{distance}{speed}

The distance the bag will travel is 5 meters, and the speed it is traveling at is 1 m/s. Plug these into the formula for time.

\frac{5 m}{1 m/s} = 5 s
5/1 = 5 and the m (meters) cancel out, so you are left with s, seconds.

It will take the bag 5 seconds to travel across the floor.
