Hello, I figured your question was missing its options so I went online to find them. Here they are:

The process of phagocytosis involves all of the following EXCEPT :

a. adhesion.

b. secretion of cytotoxins.

c. elimination.

d. vesicle fusion.

e. chemotaxis.

Answer:

The correct answer is: b) secretion of cytotoxins.

Explanation:

Phagocytosis is a mechanism performed by cells in which the plasma membrane engulfs a large particle. Phagocytosis is used by cells in the immune system to ingest pathogens like viruses and bacteria.

Phagocytosis consists of many steps:

  1. activation - the phagocytes that were resting are activated in the inflammatory response when a pathogen enters the body.
  2. chemotaxis  - this refers to the process in which the phagocyte moves to the pathogen by following the chemical factors released by these germs.
  3. adhesion - the phagocyte attaches to the pathogen.
  4. ingestion /vesicle fusion - the phagocyte sends pseudopods to engulf the pathogen, and places it in a phagosome, which is an endocytic vesicle. The phagosome and the phagocyte will fuse so the pathogen gets inside.
  5. elimination - the pathogen is destroyed in the phagocyte by the lysosomes present in it.

<u>The</u><u> secretion of cytotoxins</u><u> is not a part of the phagocytosis, and is a process exclusive to </u><u>T cells</u><u> (leukocytes that lack the ability to phagocyte).</u>

Which of the following is NOT a function of a glycocalyx?
Furkat [3]

Answer:

The incorrect assertive is letter C. it forms pseudopodia for mobility.

Explanation:

The glycocalyx or glycocalyx is a wrapper outside the plasma membrane present in animal cells and some protozoa. The term glycocalix derives from the Greek glykys, sugar, and the Latin calyx, bark, a sugar peel. It consists of lipid-associated carobhydrates, commonly called glycolipids, and protein-associated caroboidates, called glycoproteins.

According of all functions we have about glicocalix, the assertive letter C is the only is not a function about this structure. The other ones, like allows bacteria to stick to a host or the environment, biofilm formation and protection a bacteria about the drying out process are function of the glycocalix.

Provide a summary of biologist Stephen Stearns’ findings in how Natural Selection may be working today in humans.
polet [3.4K]

Answer:

Stephen Stearns states that natural selection doesn't mean the survival of the fittest organisms, but rather this mechanism is illustrated by the selective reproduction of the fittest. Natural selection can be classified into distinct types, including directional, disruptive and stabilizing selection, which are in turn based on sexual selection. These types of selection are driven by different outcomes that have different dynamics.

Consider the observation that serine is the amino acid residue that can be replaced by another amino acid with the least effect
iVinArrow [24]

The question has incorrect option, however the question can be answered by the general explanation. On the basis of the general explanation the answer is as follows:

Answer:

The correct answer is - Serine has a small side chain that can fit in any relatively polar environment.

Explanation:

Serine is an amino acid that have a small side chain in comparison of other amino acid and can be replaced by another amino acid with very least effect on the structure and function of a particular protein as they can fit in any relatively polar environment.

Serine have hydroxyl group in their side chain. It is polar amino acid that can easily establish itself in any polar condition and cause least changes in protein structure and function.

Thus, the correct answer is - Serine has a small side chain that can fit in any relatively polar environment.
