Answer: Fraction of all eligible voters voted for Shelly is \dfrac{3}{20} .

Morgan received the most votes .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The fraction of all eligible voters cast votes =\dfrac{1}{2}

The fraction of votes received by Shelly = \dfrac{3}{10}        (1)

Now, the fraction of all eligible voters voted for Shelly is given by :_

\dfrac{3}{10}\times\dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{3}{20}

Thus, the fraction of all eligible voters voted for Shelly is \dfrac{3}{20} .

The fraction of vote received by Morgan= \dfrac{5}{8}          (2)

To compare the fractions given in (1) and (2), we need to find least common multiple of 10 and 8 .

LCM (10, 8)=40

Now, make denominator 40 (to make equivalent fraction)  in (1), (2) we get

Fraction of all eligible voters voted for Shelly = \dfrac{3\times4}{10\times4}=\dfrac{12}{40}

Fraction of all eligible voters voted for Morgan =\dfrac{5\times5}{8\times5}=\dfrac{25}{40}

Since, \dfrac{25}{40}>\dfrac{12}{40}  [By comparing numerators]

Therefore, Morgan received the most votes .

Answer:

See below.

Step-by-step explanation:

a.

x = cost of adult ticket

y = cost of student ticket

cost of adult ticket is twice the cost of a student ticket

x = 2y

number of adult tickets = 64

number of student tickets = 132

cost of all adult tickets = 64x

cost of all student tickets = 132y

cost of all adult and student tickets combined: 64x + 132y

cost of all adult and student tickets combined: 1040

This gives us the equation:

64x + 132y = 1040

b.

Use substitution to solve the system of equations. Since x = 2y, where you see x in the second equation, substitute it with 2y.

64(2y) + 132y = 1040

128y + 132y = 1040

260y = 1040

y = 1040/260

y = 4

x = 2y = 2(4) = 8

adult ticket: $8

student ticket: $4

In 2006, 5,200 highway accidents were recorded in a city. The number of highway accidents increases by 5% every year. Let y repr
borishaifa [10]

Answer:

C. The situation represents a geometric sequence because the successive y-values have a common ratio of 1.05.

Step-by-step explanation:

The initial number of accidents = 5200 = Po

It increases 5% every year.

So r = 5% = 0.05

y = Po(1 + r)^x

y = 5200(1 + 0.05)^x

y = 5200(1.05)^x

This sequence is an exponential. Which is a geometric sequence.

Answer: C. The situation represents a geometric sequence because the successive y-values have a common ratio of 1.05.

Thank you.
