Answer:

A. A thick, waxy covering to prevent evaporation.

Explanation:

Because the desert is usually dry and hot, plant that live in these ecosystems need to adapt to the environment to prevent the loss of water. Water escapes from plants through their leaves as a result of photosynthesis. Desert plants have special adaptations to at least reduce the loss of water and one of them is the thick waxy covering of the leaves to seal in the water.

4. ddaa
5. The phenotypic ratio is 9:3:3:1 where 9 combinations will produce offspring with both dominant phenotypes (dimples and brown hair), 3 will produce offspring with one dominant phenotype and one receive phenotype (dimples, blonde hair), 3 will produce offspring with one receive phenotype and one dominant phenotype (no dimples, brown hair), and one will produce offspring with both recessive phenotypes (no dimples, blonde hair)

Which of the following organisms is most likely to spoil a food such as salted fish? Choose one: A. Cenarchaeum symbiosum B. The
Lubov Fominskaja [6]

Answer:

C Halobacterium species

Explanation:

ThIs is because this species of bacteria thrive well in high salt concentrations; and will be inactive in a low salt concentration medium. They are known as Hallophilic Organisms. (salt organism)s

They are rod-shaped, motile organisms , which reproduced by binary fission, live in saline lakes, with the cell bounded by a single layer of plasma membranes. They contain beta-caroteen pigments. it is this that is responsible for their red coloration. When this pigment is extracted, is used in food dye. giving food red coloration.

In addition, Halo. Bacteria contain some enzymes that can break dowm organic molecules to simplest forms. These are Degredative enzymes.(e.g Lipase , Amylases). it is this feature that aids their application for aiding the process of fermentation of salty foods, and also aiding of coffee processing during production.

Since this is called a salty bacterium, and its enzymes will be most active in high salty concentrations, then option C is the correct answer.

Nutrients are brought to spongy bone through which mechanism?
aniked [119]

In contrast to compact bone, spongy bones does not contain true Haversian systems( tiny tubes that form a network in bone and contain blood vessels) but consist of an irregular lattice of thin plates of bone called trabeculae.

The spaces between trabeculae are filled with marrow. The cells of the red marrow are responsible for producing blood. Within trabeculae lie lacunae which contain osteocytes.

Blood vessels from the periosteum penetrate through to the spongy bone, and osteocytes in the trabeculae are nourished directly from the blood circulating through the marrow cavities.
