As there is no passage included, the only way to answer this question is to look at the whole novel. The Metamorphosis written by Franz Kafka has two main characters: Grete and Gregor Samsa. As you would already know, the characters are siblings, Grete becomes the caretaker of Gregor once he has metamorphosed into a bug. At the beginning of the story Grete feels pity for her brother and so if the passage comes from this part, the answer will be C, as she becomes kinder and gentler by helping Gregor move furniture around, feeding him and cleaning his room. As the story goes on, those feeling of kindness diminish as what she saw as helping her brother becomes a duty she has to undertake. If the passage comes from this part of the story then the answer will be A, as the girl feels the pressure of helping as a duty while accepting her brother's faith. Then, Grete has to find a job to help her mother and father as Gregor is not able to work and provide for the family anymore, at this point of the story she becomes B. angrier as a lot or responsibility has fall into her lap. By the end of the story, Grete reaches the point of option D. (irritated) as Gregor's existance has become a burden not only on her, but on her whole family. She has reach a state in which she and her parents wish for her to get married but i unable to as she has to take care of Gregor. This situation leads her to decide that it is time to get rid of Gregor. As you can see, Grete goes through a lot of emotions throughout the novel, therefore the two passages are needed in order to understand which emotion the character is feeling. Hopes this helps!

Answer:

The details in the passage show that the Arctic Day adds suspense and terror among the folk attended. This meaning it is dread upon whom are around to witness. As said "As darkness came on the hunting cries to right and left rear drew closer so close that more than once they sent surges fear through the toiling dogs - sending them into panic".
