Hello from MrBillDoesMath

Answer:

    x   = 6

Discussion:

We are told the triangles are similar so corresponding parts have equal ratios . In our case this becomes

(5x-2)/7x = (3x+2)/5x

and we need to solve for "x". Multiply both sides by x

(5x-2)/7x*x  = (3x+2)/5x*x =>

(5x -2)/7 = (3x+2)/5                    ( as x/x = 1)

Multiply both sides by 35 ( = 7 * 5)

(5x-2)/ 7  * (7*5) =  (3x +2 )/ 5 * (7*5)  =>

(5x-2) * 5 = (3x +2) * 7 =>

25x -10 = 21x + 14        =>          (subtract 21x from both sides)

(25x - 21x) - 10 =  14 =>              (simplify)

4x - 10  = 14  =>                           (add 10 to both sides)

4x = 14 + 10  =>

4x = 24  =>

x = 6

Thank you,

Mr. B

Tju [1.3M]

Answer:

y = 5x + 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the formula: y - y1 = m(x - x1)

Plug in all numbers into your equation: y - 7 = 5(x - -1)

Minus with a minus becomes a positive: y - 7 = 5(x + 1)

Distribute:                    y - 7 = 5x + 5

Add 7 to both sides:      +7          +7

Answer: y = 5x + 12

To find the height of the peak, list the corresponding sides and angles of the two triangles you and Tyler have created. (6 poin
sukhopar [10]
We know that

Right triangles PBM and MTF are similar
because
angle PMB=angle TMF
and
angle BPM=angle FTM
and
angle B =angle F=90 degrees
so
corresponding sides are
BM and MF
PB and TF
PM and MT
(PB/TF)=BM/MF
solve for PB
PB=(TF*BM)/MF
where
TF=6ft
BM=20 ft
MF=3 ft
so
PB=(6*20)/3------> 40 ft

the answer is
the height of the peak is 40 ft
