Enzymes work by lowering the activation energy needed to break the bonds.

Further Explanation:

A molecule that helps in increasing the speed of chemical reaction without being a reactant is referred as catalyst. In a biochemical reaction, enzymes act as catalyst. Enzymes are generally proteins, although some of the ribonucleic acid molecules also act as enzymes.

Enzymes play a crucial role in decreasing the activation energy of a reaction. The activation energy is referred as the amount of energy necessary to start the reaction. Enzymes works by the binding of reactant molecule to the substrate .and hold them in such manner that the chemical bond-forming and bond-breaking processes occurs more readily. The enzymes does not affect the \Delta G{\text{ value}} , they don’t affect the energy absorbing or releasing energy. The reason is that they don’t change the free energy of the reactant or product. The enzyme also break down larger molecule into smaller molecule which can easily absorbed by body.

I think it's A?? B makes sense but the beginning of the paragraph is talking about how the royal society of science wasn't impressed, so it seems like the focus is on that and not how he defended against lightning strikes.
