Use the Pythagorean Theorem.

The length of the path is d, and it is the hypotenuse of the right triangle.

50^2 + 120^2 = d^2

2500 + 14400 = d^2

d^2 = 16900

d = 130

Answer: 130 m

Hello!

You use the Pythagorean theorem to solve this

a^{2} + b^{2} = c^{2}

a and b are the legs
c is the hypotenuse which is the side across from the right angle

put in the values you know

50^{2} + 120^{2} =c^{2}

square the numbers

2500 + 14400 =  c^{2}

add

16900 =  c^{2}

Take the square root of the number

130 = c

The answer is 130m

Hope this helps!

VashaNatasha [74]
Because in the numerator and denominator of the fraction 1a/3a, you're able to simplify that and get 1/3. There is actually no solution to the problem you're asking. You're unable to find out what (a) equals.

Simplify:<br><br> 20 - 2 × 8 + 42<br> A. <br> 20<br> B. <br> 160<br> C. <br> 52<br> D. <br> 26
Gnom [1K]

Answer: 46

Step-by-step explanation:

You can simplify this using PEMDAS:

Parentheses

Exponents

Multiplication/division

Addition/subtraction

Move through the steps in that order.

In this case, the first two steps are absent, so multiply first:

20 - 16 + 42

Then, add and subtract:

46.

Mari has 39 square feet of patio bricks. Each square brick has sides 1 foot long. What is the greatest perimeter of a rectangle
Margaret [11]
I think you would do 39 x 4 because if the SQUARE brick has sides 1 foot long, you count up the sides and get 4 feet. She has 29 square feet of patio bricks so you would multiply 39 x 4. I don't know if this is correct. Hopefully I helped!

The slope of (17,2) and (18,-17)
Ahat [919]

<u>m= -19/1</u>

We need to use the slope equation

\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}  }{x_{2}-x_{1} }

We are working with the points,

 (17,    2)         and      (18,     -17)

  x1    y1                       x2       y2

\frac{-17-2}{18-17}

<u>m= -19/1</u>
