The <em>inuite</em> people, who inhabit the regions of North Canada, Alaska and Greenland, call their winter houses igloo, or <em>iglu</em> (in <em>inuite</em> language). Although many people stereotypically associate igloos with the typical dome-shaped shelter built of snow, the word traditionally means a house made of any material.
