The Battle of Rorke's Drift took place on 22 and 23 January 1879 during the Zulu War (1879). A huge force of Zulus attacked a small garrison of British and colonial soldiers who ultimately repelled their assault after more than 12 hours of bitter fighting.
The working conditions during the Industrial Revolution in England was very inhumane. This was clearly depicted in the movie of Les Miserables where people were forced to work in sweat shops for hours on end and get paid with a very minimal amount. People's services back then were not taken seriously by the government which caused major revolutions and chaos within society. This eventually led to the Bubonic Plague (viral disease caused by ticks of rats) which took the lives of almost half of the population of Europe. This was a trigger for England and Europe in general to implement changes in their health, education, and work systems.
Slave labor during to the Punic Wars affected small farmers in that: It hurt them because large farms who used slaves as laborers could sell products cheaper.
