Answer:

The answer is: hidden testes

Explanation:

Testes - this is also known as <em>"testicles."</em> T<u>his refers to the oval-sized organs of the male reproductive system that is responsible for producing sperm.</u>

Hidden testes is also known as <em>"undescended testes." </em>Medically speaking, this is called<u> "Cryptorchidism." </u>This commonly affects <em>very young boys, especially those who were born prematurely</em>. This means that the testes couldn't fully descend on the 7th month of gestation (when it is supposed to).

Most of the time, only one testes cannot descend, but in some cases, both testes cannot descend, although it only accounts 10% of those with this disorder. Having undescended testes means that the male's sperm production is disrupted. <u>The production of sperm requires a certain temperature that is lower than that of the body temperature.</u> It's location should be outside and not inside.

If two people who are heterozygous for the PKU allele have a child with PKU, what is the likelihood their next child will have P
Jlenok [28]

Answer:

The correct answer is 25% likely.

Explanation:

Phenylketonuria (PKU) is inherited in an <u>autosomal recessive pattern</u>, which means <u>both copies of the gene in each cell must have mutations</u> to express the disease.

If we let the allele causing PKU be “p” and the normal allele be “P”, the affected individual must have “pp” combination. If both parents are heterozygous, this means the have “Pp” combination and therefore the result in their progeny will be the following:

¼: PP (25%)

¼: pp (25%)

½: Pp (50%)

This pattern will repeat itself every time they try to have a child.
