A standing wave is a vibration in which <span>reflected </span>waves<span> from one end of the medium interfere with incident </span>waves<span> from the source. Destructive interference is the result of the meeting of the waves, when the result is lower amplitude than the amplitude of the each of the waves. A standing wave has destructive interference - referred as antinodes on the graph of the wave. </span>

8. If the mass of a balloon is 300 kg and the lift force provided by the atmosphere is 3300 N, what
zmey [24]

Answer:

Toward the north, 300 N

Explanation:

Consider the upward direction as positive and downward direction as negative.

Given:

Mass of the balloon is, m=300\ kg

Lift force on the balloon in the upward direction is, F_L=3300\ N

Take acceleration due to gravity as 10 N/kg.

Now, weight of the balloon acting downward is given as the product of its mass and acceleration due to gravity. Therefore,

Weight is, W=mg=(300\ kg)(10\ N/kg)=-3000\ N

Now, net force is given as the vector sum of both the forces.

F_{net}=F_L+W\\F_{net}=3300-3000=300\ N(\textrm{Upward direction})

The upward direction is the direction of North. So, the net force acting on the balloon is 300 N towards North.

If a transformer has 50 turns in the primary winding and 10 turns on the secondary winding, what is the reflected resistance in
Elza [17]

Answer:

The reflected resistance in the primary winding is 6250 Ω

Explanation:

Given;

number of turns in the primary winding, N_P = 50 turns

number of turns in the secondary winding, N_S = 10 turns

the secondary load resistance, R_S = 250 Ω

Determine the turns ratio;

K = \frac{N_P}{N_S} \\\\K = \frac{50}{10} \\\\K = 5

Now, determine the reflected resistance in the primary winding;

\frac{R_P}{R_S} = K^2\\\\R_P = R_SK^2\\\\R_P = 250(5)^2\\\\R_P = 6250 \ Ohms

Therefore, the reflected resistance in the primary winding is 6250 Ω
