Look at the fraction. If the numerator is more than the denominator, the fraction is more than one half. However, if the numerator is less than the denominator, then the fraction is less than on half.

I hope this helps! If you have any question, reply asking it. I will answer it.

You can tell fractions are bigger than a half by they are bigger than 1/2.
______________
That doesn't make sense at all, I understand, but basically, it's pretty simple.
______________________________________________

So, you basically are doing division. So, to find a fraction bigger than a half of sixths, then you need to divide 6 by 2, and it is 3. So, you have 3/6, right? So, now you need to find a fraction bigger than 3 { The numerator } So, an example would be 4/6, because 4/6 is bigger than 3/6, and 3/6 is a half.

What is the area of the segment?
vagabundo [1.1K]

Answer:

The Area of a Segment is the area of a sector minus the triangular piece (shown in light blue here). There is a lengthy reason, but the result is a slight modification of the Sector formula: Area of Segment = θ − sin(θ) 2 × r2 (when θ is in radians) Area of Segment = ( θ × π 360 − sin(θ)2 ) × r2 (when θ is in degrees)

Marc is half as old as Tony and three times as old as Ben. If the sum of their ages is 40, how old is Marc?
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

Marc's age is 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x ----> Marc's age

y ---> Tony's age

z ---> Ben's age

we know that

the sum of their ages is 40

so

x+y+z=40 -----> equation A

Marc is half as old as Tony

so

x=\frac{y}{2}

y=2x ----> equation B

Marc is three times as old as Ben

so

x=3z

z=\frac{x}{3} ----> equation C

substitute equation B and equation C in equation A

x+2x+\frac{x}{3}=40

solve for x

\frac{10x}{3}=40

x=40(3)/10\\x=12\ years

therefore

Marc's age is 12

Find the absolute value. | -1 - i |
Nostrana [21]
1 + i? I think. Because they are both negative because you aren't actually subtracting just adding a negative

The graph below shows the distances, in miles, that a dragonfly can travel in a certain number of hours:
Murrr4er [49]

Answer:

  (b) distance, y=20x, 480 mi

Step-by-step explanation:

As is often the case, the only self-consistent answer choice is the correct one.

__

The dependent variable is plotted on the y-axis, so is distance.

(x, y) = (2, 40) tells you y = 20x is an appropriate choice of equation.

In 24 hours, the dragonfly will fly y = 20(24) = 480 miles.
