An airplane is flying at an elevation of 5150 ft, directly above a straight highway. Two motorists are driving cars on the highw

ay on opposite sides of the plane, and the angle of depression to one car is 34° and to the other is 54°. How far apart are the cars? (Round your answer to the nearest foot.)

Answer:

The cars are 10702ft apart

Step-by-step explanation:

Height of the plane from the high way = 5150ft

Considering Triangle ABD, we will be using SOHCAHTOA

Tan = Opposite/ Adjacent

Tan 54° = Y/5150

Y = 5150*tan54°

Y = 7088 ft

Considering Triangle ADC, Tan = Opposite/ Adjacent is also applicable

Tan 34° = X/5150

X = 5150*tan 54°

X = 3614ft

The distance between the two cars = (X+Y)

= 7088 + 3614

= 10702ft

A bank in the Bay area is considering a training program for its staff. The probability that a new training program will increas
WITCHER [35]

Answer:

P(B' \cup A') = P((A \cap B)') = 1-P(A \cap B)= 1-0.32=0.68

See explanation below.

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we define first some notation:

A= A new training program will increase customer satisfaction ratings

B= The training program can be kept within the original budget allocation

And for these two events we have defined the following probabilities

P(A) = 0.8, P(B) = 0.2

We are assuming that the two events are independent so then we have the following propert:

P(A \cap B ) = P(A) * P(B)

And we want to find the probability that the cost of the training program is not kept within budget or the training program will not increase the customer ratings so then if we use symbols we want to find:

P(B' \cup A')

And using the De Morgan laws we know that:

(A \cap B)' = A' \cup B'

So then we can write the probability like this:

P(B' \cup A') = P((A \cap B)')

And using the complement rule we can do this:

P(B' \cup A') = P((A \cap B)')= 1-P(A \cap B)

Since A and B are independent we have:

P(A \cap B )=P(A)*P(B) =(0.8*0.4) =0.32

And then our final answer would be:

P(B' \cup A') = P((A \cap B)') = 1-P(A \cap B)= 1-0.32=0.68

Answer:

A)11

Step-by-step explanation:

These are matrices one dimensional with one column and 3 rows each.

-The product of the matrices is obtained by multiplying the correspond values and summing up;

pq=\left[\begin{array}{ccc}3\\2\\-1\end{array}\right] \times\left[\begin{array}{ccc}5\\-1\\2\end{array}\right] \\\\\\\\=(3\times 5)+(2\times -1)+(-1\times 2)\\\\=15+-2+-2\\\\=11

Hence, the product of p and q is 11
