Ketones or ketone bodies are results of fat breakdown. This test measures the quantity of ketones in the blood. Ketones are shaped when glucose is not obtainable to the body's cells as an energy source and/or when the body cannot use glucose as a fuel source since there is no insulin or inadequate insulin. When you’re fasting your body doesn't have sufficient glucose so it uses fat and plasma ketone concentration is about to increase.
