I just recently learned this myself due to buying an old farm house that was built in the 1970's. Asbestos is commonly found in buildings and structures built before 1981 and is a very harmful thing if inhaled into the body.

Answer:

Answer: '1980'

Asbestos is usually found in buildings and structures before 1980

Explanation:

Asbestos also refer to six silicate naturally occurring mineral made of long and thin fibrous crystal. Each fiber has fibrils that cannot be seen by the naked eyes. These fibrils can escape out into the space by abrasions. Great heat resistivity is one of the attributes that made asbestos to be used in buildings. But as a result of the adverse health and safety risk it possesses, asbestos became illegal and condemned in 1980.

Asbestos used in ceilings release fiber when drilled while asbestos used as insulators in boilers, furnaces and pipes releases dust when they go off or worsen. Inhalation of these dust and fibers by human can cause adverse health issues like lungs cancer and asbestosis.

The two approved methods used to check for asbestos dust and fibrils are Polarized Light Microscopy and Transmission Electron Miscroscopy.

STALIN [3.7K]

The marginal revenue curve of an oligopolist begins to decline after 500 units of output. Which type of oligopoly does Sweezy's company most likely operate under?

A market system known as an oligopoly occurs when a small number of important sellers or manufacturers dominate a market or an industry (from the Greek words oligos, "few," and v, polein, "to sell"). The result of corporate cooperation to boost profits is typically oligopoly. Numerous industries have been identified as being oligopolistic, including commercial aviation, power providers, telecommunications companies, rail freight markets, food processing, funeral services, sugar refining, beer production, pulp and paper manufacture, and auto manufacturing. Because of the decreased competition, consumer prices would increase and labour earnings will decrease.

Nunavet Ocean Cruises sold an issue of 12-year $1,000 par bonds to build new ships. The bonds pay 4.85% interest, semi-annuall
frez [133]

Answer:

bond market value $660

Explanation:

We need to calculate the present value of the maturity and the cuopon payment using the effective rate of 9.7%

First we do the annuity:

C \times \frac{1-(1+r)^{-time} }{rate} = PV\\

C  24.25  (1,000 face value x 4.85 bond rate / 2 )

time  24.00 (12 year 2 payment a year)

rate  0.04850 (current rate divide by 2 to get it annually)

24.25 \times \frac{1-(1+0.0485)^{-24} }{0.0485} = PV\\

PV $339.55

Then present value of the maturity

\frac{Maturity}{(1 + rate)^{time} } = PV

Maturity   1,000.00 the face value of the bond

time   24.00

rate   0.04850

\frac{1000}{(1 + 0.0485)^{24} } = PV

PV   320.89

Finally we add them together:

PV coupon payment $339.5545

PV maturity  $320.8910

Total $660.4455

rounding to nearest dollar

bond market value $660
