In an essay, describe what the idea of "rule of law" meant to the average Roman.
amid [387]
Best Answer:<span>  </span><span>What "the rule of law" means varies by context and jurisdiction, but it's most important application is the principle that governmental authority is legitimately exercised only in accordance with written, publicly disclosed laws adopted and enforced in accordance with due process. In modern western terms, the hallmarks of adherence to the rule of law include a clear separation of powers, legal certainty, and the principle of equality before the law.

The rule of law is fundamental to a democracy, because in order for a democracy to exist, each citizen must be equal. And without it, the government is free to pass or repeal laws on their whim, and pick and choose how to apply those laws.</span>

Mashutka [201]

The correct answer is <em>B) "Growing Urban Middle Class"</em>.

The introduction of the Factory System during the 19th century brought drastic changes in regards to the type of workforce needed for operations within industries.

Previously skilled workers were no longer necessary with the introduction of machines that were able to generate higher levels of output and be operated by lesser-skilled workers, such as women and children.

Women were hired in the textile industry. They were able to increase their income, as the salaries they got by working in factories were considerably higher in comparison to doing housework.

This was a turning point, as women started to empower themselves and start the first movements in order to obtain more rights.
